FJIL Welcomes Four New Board Members!

We are excited to announce that at FJIL’s 2024 AGM we welcomed four amazing new members of the Board of Directors. Below are brief summaries of their impressive skills and experience. Please click on the links to learn more about each:

Bev Churchill Bev is an experienced and respected BC collaborative family lawyer, mediator, arbitrator and parenting coordinator. She is also a founder and Director of the Hear the Child Society of BC and has held leadership positions with Collaborative Law organizations provincially, federally and internationally. Bev devotes significant time to presenting and teaching to support consensual dispute resolution approaches and child voice.

Jared Hydamaka Jared is a founding member of the Youth Voices Leadership Group and continues to advocate for meaningful participation for children and youth in BC. He has just completed his studies at UBC and hopes to attend law school. His dedication to the work of Youth Voices and family justice system change is inspiring.

Karen Roussy Karen is an experienced paralegal and family law mediator. She is a Legal Studies Instructor at Capilano University and has a long history of advocating for families in BC. She is an approved Family Law Advocate in the Law Society of BC Innovation Sandbox.

Tamara Throssell Tamara is an experienced family law mediator. She also coordinates Family Inclusive Services for the Foundry BC Network, specializing in Family Peer Support. Tamara is committed to amplifying the voices and experiences of youth and families in complex health and justice systems.

All four participate in the Meaningful Participation Community of Action – part of the Transform the Family Justice System Collaborative.

They join our amazing founding Board Members Nancy Cameron K.C., Jane Morley K.C., and Rahul Aggarwal.

Board and staff are excited about continuing the FJIL’s journey to innovate and support the well-being of B.C. families and children experiencing separation and divorce.
